Guests are invited to join elderly, upper class Bertrum Wallace-Smythe and his young, unsophisticated bride, Zoë Matthews, at the evening reception to celebrate their marriage. Not everyone feels like celebrating however. Will these two very mismatched families get on - or will their dirty laundry be aired in public?

The Venue

The Ship Inn

The Ship Inn is an independently run pub in the Beautiful village of Freckleton. The Ship inn will focus on quality food, great service and a relaxed and homely atmosphere, making both customers and staff feel comfortable the moment they step through the door.

The Ship Inn first appeared in the history of Freckleton in about 1630 and stands in an elevated position overlooking a creek of the River Ribble. Records show that The Ship Inn was in existence in 1677 when it was first licensed, however it is thought the pub dates back to the 14th Century, making it the oldest pub in the Fylde. Smuggling, fighting, fraternising, ghostly tales, carousing; The Ship Inn has seen it all- and who knows what the future may hold.

Today The Ship Inn still features as a cornerstone of village life in Freckleton, bringing in both locals and those from further afield.  It’s the perfect destination venue with ample parking where all families and four legged friends are welcome.  Our large beer garden provides excellent views across Freckleton Marsh – a great spot for bird lovers. For those with whose interest lies in aircraft then our position near BAE Warton provides frequent opportunities to see both training and operational aircraft on a daily basis. Furthermore, The Ship Inn is also an early stop on The Coastal Walk which is a leisurely amble from Freckleton through to Lytham and St Annes.
