Sgt Catherine Yardley has arranged the annual party for her colleagues at the local provincial police station. Every year out of politeness, she invites the chief constable. This year, for the first time ever the chief has accepted the invitation. Will the police be able to let their hair down as usual? And why has the chief decided to come along anyway? Is there trouble in the ranks?
